we are on storm watch. >>> good morning. thanks for being with us. i'm marla tellez. >> i'm jon kelley. we have complete coverage of the storm hitting the bay area. we have mike inouye. he is watching the roadways. christina loren will have an extended forecast and delays at the airport. we start off with christie smith who is at the flooded underpass in fremont. she has a look at what is nothing short but a mess all morning. i hope you have your boots on. >> reporter: i do have my boots on. we have been at this since 3:15 this morning. i have to tell you, the rain hasn't stopped. there are trees down and flooding. i want to show you the underpass. the waterfall formed off the side of the hill. it was flooded maybe 20 minutes ago. one car had to be towed out. the driver told me the road closed sign had been moved. he said it was deeper than he thought. a larger truck made it through just fine. this is the kind of morning it's been with power knocked out to bay area bridges including the richmond san rafael bridge. there were trees toppled over because the ground is so saturated.

good morning to you. thanks for being with us. i'm marla tellez. >> and i'm jon kelley. good morning, everybody. >>> we begin with that developing story on the peninsula where that manhunt continues after a woman reportedly woke up to find a stranger right in her apartment bedroom. now, this incident taking place less than two miles from the stanford campus. nbc bay area's bob redell is at the scene right now in palo alto. he has the latest details. what are the police saying? >> reporter: good morning to you, jon. detectives with palo alto police tell us a man tried to sexually assault a woman as she slept inside her apartment here an hawthorne. and he was willing and able to force his way in through a door that was both locked and chained shut. a canine dog tracked his scent for a short time this morning but he managed to escape. one challenge is coming up with a detailed description. the woman doesn't know her attacker. it was dark inside her apartm t apartment. she tells police he was of an average build and wearing dark clothes. she woke to find him standing over her in

right now. >>> good morning. thank you very much for joining us. i'm jon kelley. >> i'm marla tellez. we begin this morning with the flooding in daly city where the clean up has begun. we have both nbc bay area's christie smith and bob redell redell with us. we start off with christie smith of the details and what happened. any clean up yet, christie? >> reporter: good morning. it has been a morning and a mess here in daly city. there are front loaders and vacuum trucks everywhere trying to deal with this mudslide. it started with a water pipe that broke off. i wanted to show you what it has done to the hillside this morning as a section came down bringing trees and debris right into the neighborhood. neighbors say it sounded like a storm. water rushing down the hillside along lusanne avenue carrying debris and trees trapping parked cars. it was just to the left of romero's home. >> i was not aware there was a tank up there. >> reporter: what do you think now that you know what happened? >> i'm guessing, you know, infrastructure might be getting old. >> reporter: the gap in the hillside

for being with us. i' i'm marla tellez. >> i'm jon kelley. union city police investigating a bizary hiizarre death. a young man stuffed in a trash can. we have bob redell with more. >> reporter: good morning, jon. we know the lady who lives in the home behind me on tenth street made the discovery sunday morning at 11:00. as she took out the trash, she noticed a bin that wasn't hers. she found a man slouched, feet at the bottom and head at the top. she recognized him at 21-year-old joshua perez. a family friend whom she watched grow up as a kid and sometimes stayed at her house. she and other family members tried to wake him. he was unresponsive, but still alive, but arrived at the hospital and later died. >> he was a good uncle and good brother to me. he was a good son. he didn't deserve to be put in a trash can. he's not garbage. >> reporter: that's joshua's older sister who is still trying to figure out what happened to her brother saturday night/sunday morning. union city police are not calling this a homicide yet. rather a suspicious death. investigators and family believe that joshua wa
